WS7/ 30HAT Body Scanner Winding Systems

Model WS7/ 30HAT machine series were designed to build the worlds most powerful experimental body and scientific scanners. With individual coil weights in excess of 28 tonnes and winding speeds of 27rpm this machine type is the largest series we have built to date.

The machine features fully integrated electronically controlled tensioning allowing single conductors to be tensioned safely up to 27kg, with wire drum weights up to 575kg. An operator platform is provided and is moveable to allow for larger diameter coils up to 3.5m. A sliding control box is provided to allow easy control as the coil progresses. As with all WS electronic tensioners the coil maybe unwound as required at the same speed as it was wound, with the wire being layer wound back onto the spool, by the tensioners onboard traverse system.

The machine is equipped with three independent fail safe braking systems which can bring the machine to rest in under 2 seconds, in most cases with no ill effect to the wire being wound. The machine maybe controlled from the platform or the tensioner as required. The tailstock is provided with either a hand or powered opening or closing mechanism.
