WS Spindle winder control systems for Bobbifil ER series machines. Since Bobbifil ceased production of all machinery, customers have become concerned that future poor availability of spare parts will render their existing machines unusable.

Since 1989  Winding Services have supplied and fitted replacement control systems to all types of machinery particularly Bobbifil. Although we have always offered a comprehensive rebuild service, over the years the percentage of Bobbifil parts recondition has reduced due to their unavailability and poor long term reliability.

Our aim is always to add 10 years to the life of a WS rebuilt Bobbifil, to this end we have offered a higher specification control system replacement for the last 7 years.

The control system features a 3 phase inverter motor drive for both main drive motor and traverse control. When fitted during a WS rebuild the obsolete D.C. motor is replaced with a Din standard 3 phase brake motor, with the traverse gears, clutches and variator being replaced by an inverter controlled gear motor driving a lead screw and follower system.

The system is closed loop and has the advantage of allowing the operator to override the traverse when winding (using push buttons) to reposition the traverse arm as required.

The great advantage of this conversion is the removal of many Bobbifil only parts from the machine. All parts used are currently available at very short notice (24 hours max) from recognised suppliers, making future servicing a routine matter.
